Other than the floor peeling epoxy the owner had issues with water from the showers running out and puddling at the entrance of the shower room. (See photo’s to the left)

After grinding off the delaminating epoxy paint we anchored 3/4″D x 1″W furring strips around the perimeter of the room to enable pitching underlayment from the perimeter walls to the drain in the center of the room. (See images below) This is achieved by screwing screws into the furring strip then periodically pulling the strings attached to the screws down to the drain as you trowel in the epoxy underlayment.
Once the underlayment is cured, we then go over the whole floor with our trowel-down epoxy flooring and install the final high gloss sealer. The result… A complete transformation of the floor that functions as it is supposed to. This owner wanted to do something different because of how difficult it was to keep the floor clean. Over time, the grout started to smell because it absorbed much of the water that was used in cleaning the floors by the janitorial staff. The musty odor was overwhelming and would return within hours after cleaning. Rather than continuing to use large amounts of “smell good” chemicals to cover this problem, this customer came to us looking for a solution to this headache. The tile was still in good structural condition (not loose), so we were able to install right over the top of it. All we had to do was grind the tile floor, apply a skim coat of resin, and install our decorative, waterproof epoxy floor and sealer. This project took three days from start to finish and it was open for use the morning of the fourth day. The finished floor looks great, and the owners problem is permanently solved with a new floor that is sure to last and retain its beauty for years to come!

In this project, the owner wanted an aggressive floor finish for added slip resistance, so the optional high gloss epoxy seal coat was not installed. Once the project started (1350 combined sq/linear ft), it took two days to complete. The first day the floor prep and vertical epoxy base was installed, and the following day the floor was installed. The space was turned over to a satisfied owner on the third day. The quick installation of this flooring allowed other construction disciplines to come in and keep the overall construction project ahead of schedule for a grateful owner.

The owner was concened about repeating the problem using the same old tile solution. He was also concerned about downtime and selected our product because of its quick turnaround time and durability features.

The floor preparation was made in a single evening. The application was completed the following day and the facility was back in busness on the third day. The owner was extremely happy with the results.

As you can see the installation left a smooth slip resitant finish and a beautiful but durable appearence.
